"Acid Town, Vol 2" by Kyugo

"Acid Town, Vol 2" by Kyugo continues to be a gritty and interesting read. If you love "Banana Fish" by Akimi Yoshida, then this is a must-read. A dark story with a yakuza setting, romantic BL vibes and a hero with a tragic past and something important to protect. It hits me right in the heart. Synopsis: In a run-down city beset with poverty and gangs, survival is a daily struggle for Yuki and his best friend Tetsu. In a desperate attempt to pay for Yuki's brother's hospitalization, the two of them get caught trying to break into a yakuza vault. But the gang's young boss, Kazutaka Hyoudo, takes an interest in Yuki and they strike a deal: Hyoudo is willing to take care of the hospital bills— for a price. A weekly visit to the Seidoukai office doesn't seem like much to pay, but the boys' connection to the criminal group has already begun to draw the wrong kind of attention. When a shady, malicious figure from Yuki's past reappears in h...

"When We Shout for Love, Vol 3" by Yuka Kitagawa

The "When We Shout for Love" series by Yuka Kitagawa is a wholesome and satisfying read. It's about friendship, empowerment, and about being passionate about the things you like. This is a read for everyone that likes stories about fandoms. Especially if you like when fans meet their idols! I flew through this series, and couldn't get the next volume fast enough. Cute, adorable, and fast-paced with reliable characters. I loved the growth Mayuko go through, the music that inspires her, and the fanciable Ohba-kun for his support and patience as Mayuko struggles with her anxiety. It was nice to read a story with no miscommunications but with positive messages about not caring about other people looking at you, and daring to do the things you love. But I'm sad now because volume 3 was the last in the series. One thing is sure, I will check out the author's other works!

"When We Shout for Love, Vol 2" by Yuka Kitagawa

AHH ”When We Shout for Love, Vol 2” by Yuka Kitagawa is so cute! Every page is so nicely drawn, and the story pulls you right in! This is a read for everyone that likes stories about fandoms. Mayuko finds the courage to ask Ohba-kun to a KBF47 concert, and he agrees! Next follows cute scenes of Mayuko being grateful for her friend, Ohba-kun, and the two friends having the time of their life as fans at the concert! A new character was introduced too, and this is making me very excited to see what happens next. Mayuko and Ohba-kun split up for a second, and Ohba-kun runs into their favourite idol Zono-chan, and help her find back on stage. I sense trouble in the future... the way Ohba-kun watch Zono-chan is the same way he watches Mayuko. A bit of a glassy-eyed admiration. Yikes! I'm onto the next book, right away!

”When We Shout for Love, Vol 1” by Yuka Kitagawa

I am still one big smile after reading ”When We Shout for Love Vol 1” by Yuka Kitagawa. It is such a happy and positive read! Mayuko struggles with social anxiety and prefers to be in her cocoon at home. Her ray of light is her favourite girl group, KBF47. Their songs are the soundtrack about her life and the life she wished she had - the kind of life where she's not scared of what other people think of her. Ohba-kun, our male main character, is assumed to be a thug, but by chance, Mayuko learns that they have a thing in common – they are both fans of KBF47. But no one at school understands their new friendship, questioning why these two would even spend time together. Mayuko wants to change herself so people will get a different opinion, and no longer think that it is strange that Ohba-kun is by her side. I need to gush about how good a guy Ohba-kun is! Ohba-kun is the polar opposite of Mayuko, but the BEST friend, and as Mayuko decides to begin her change by entering an...

”There Are Things I Can't Tell You” by Edako Mofumofu

”There Are Things I Can't Tell You” by Edako Mofumofu is a sweet coming of age story about unrequited love. Kyousuke is bright and popular, while Kasumi is a clumsy outsider, but the two very different boys become fast best friends in elementary school after Kyousuke sees Kasumi hanging a note with a wish onto the Wish Tree in the school library with the words ”I hope to marry someone I love and live happily ever after”. The theme in the story is ”What is happiness?”. The story is told from both Kasumi and Kyosuke's point of view - from elementary school boys to now 27 years old men that are trying to figure out what love and happiness is. I really liked that. It made me feel connected to the two men that come from different homes and have different demons that are following each of them into their adulthood. I hope there will be a book two because this was a great beginning.

”Lovely Muco!, Vol 1” by Takayuki Mizushina

”Lovely Muco!, Vol 1” by Takayuki Mizushina is a read full of giggles. Any pet lover will enjoy getting an insight into Muco's thoughts about her life with her much-beloved owner, Mr. Komatsu. Her thoughts are very much dog, and in the beginning, it's difficult to understand what Muco's obsessions with her shiny nose and chewing her blanket are all about, but as the pages turn, you get a pretty clear idea of how much this dog just want to help Mr. Komatsu and how much she loves him. Perhaps you might even get inspiration on how to understand your pet? I love the stories about their daily life in the glass art studio in the mountains. Muco brings lots of joy and entertainment every day. I love especially when Mr. Komatsu misunderstands her needs. This is a cute, relaxing, and full of-giggles read. Just what I needed.

”Wolf Girl And Black Prince, Vol 1” by Ayuko Hatta

”Wolf Girl And Black Prince, Vol 1” by Ayuko Hatta is a hilarious romantic comedy about Erika (The wolf girl) who cried too many times that she has a boyfriend – when she actually doesn't. Her friends think she's a liar, and scared of being left out in the cold, Erika takes a picture of a random hot guy in the street. If only she had known that they know him already because he goes to her school! The disaster feeling is strong when Erika is almost caught in her lies, but Sata, the guy, listens to her pleas about him becoming her fake boyfriend. He's a nice guy and agrees - all she has to do is be at his beck and call. His own personal slave dog. Turns out he's a wolf in sheep's clothing! Now, now, before anyone goes complaining that this guy is evil and mistreating her, just remember that Erika could stop this farce at any time by telling the truth to her friends. She doesn't and I think for sure there's going to be an important lesson to be learned he...
